Update!

Wow I didn’t realize it had been so long since my last post, but no worries I’m still alive and well 🙂 and on a better note still creating. I have been so busy with work, vacation and wedding plans as of late. I have designed and completed all of my wedding invitation cards by hand. Now I just need to find the time to send them off!

Previously I posted about my art journal. I have now made several new ones. Even though none of them are complete, I have different uses for all of them. I ‘m basically just using them fore experiements with things such as drawing, painting, mixed media, recycling, amoung other things. Here is just a few pages and covers that I have made. Nothing too fancy, like I it’s just for experiments.

Some of these journals were created by using milk cartons, cereal boxes, envelopes, buttons and broken jewelry.

While I have been away I have been expermenting a lot with different journaling techniques which has been very fun. I have been gathering a lot of information from Youtube via tutorials and became inspired by others’ work. I have done a lot more than what is shown here, i don’t take pictures of every process. This is just a reminder for me of what i have been working on and hopefully time will show my improvement.

Mixed Media Art Journal

Hello again! I have been up to some more artsy experiments recently. I’ve watched a few videos about mixed media art journals and thought the techniques and ideas were very interesting so I decided to give it a go. Here is what I have created so far:

This was an empty journal I got as a present a while back and have never used so I decided to start with that.

I have recently joined Pinterest as suggested by a friend of mine. I joined this site to gather new ideas to help me follow a more creative path. This site as been very inspirational to me.

I haven’t post a lot of my crafts yet, but I plan to share more so that others may be inspired.

I have been testing some new hairstyles including cut and coloring. Art? sure I could consider this an art form or at least it shows a bit of my creative abilities. Here’s another picture of a 50’s hairstyle I have been toying with.

Ink

I’m not sure If many people know that I designed my own tattoos. My tattoo artist made my ideas come to life! I drew my basic concepts and he made it more real that I imagined they would be. My first tattoo is of 8 stars which represent a few different things for me. I was born on august 8 and my anniversary is on the 8th of february. Just a nice number for me.   Why Stars? I just like them and thought it would look good!

Newspaper Art

I was feeling a bit bored and creative with no money to go buy new supplies to tinker with. So I decided to use what I had lying around the house and you will never believe what I made. Again I must say I was in a bit of a random mood which is always fun for me 😉

Things I used: 

• Newspaper & Paper tape
• Water color paint

Necklace/Bracelet Jewelry Holder

Recycling can become a very fun project!

Things I used:

• Toilet paper rolls (stuff the TP rolls with newspaper to make sure the shape holds)
• Old skirt used for fabric
• Pink decoration (from the top of a perfume bottle, looks like a hair tie)
• Old small magazine covered with a piece of cardboard for the base
• Black plastic tube for stand (the smaller one I used another TP roll for the stand)
• Hot glue gun
• Scissors

Ring Box

Edgar, the muppet that didn’t make it…

I was feeling a bit random today and created a hand puppet that just makes an awkward squawking sound. At first it was just my hand, then I decided to give him eyes by gluing two bouncy balls on top of a ring. I then gave him the name Edgar. He is now my boyfriend’s best friend yet my boyfriend is annoyed by him. I think he’s cute! Random, yet cute!

Paper Mache Project

I made a paper mache bowl and it’s finally dry! It was just painted today and for now it is finished. I might add more to it later but right now i want to keep it simple.

I decided to paint “Hakuna Matata” on the bowl because it is a philosophy that I personally like to follow. I thought it would be a fun idea for a small reminder to just let things go and not worry so much 🙂

So here is the completed project. It’s not perfect but life isn’t perfect either. Enjoy!
